Description

Morgan Sindall Infrastructure (Nuclear) are strengthening its presence in the UK as a result of a growing pipeline of projects and clients.  

The Senior Operations Director will be responsible for the overall management of a major infrastructure project in a regulated environment. The role includes attending relevant business unit meetings and input into pre construction activities and reviewing of tender proposals and selection of staff, recruitment and performance management of operational staff. 

Prior knowledge of the MOD and/or Nuclear industry are desirable but are not a primary driver.

We are recruiting for x2 positions. One based in the North West of England and the Other in the South West.

Role & responsibilities

  • Overseeing the overall management and performance of major projects including planning, design, construction, programme controls and monitoring, ensuring the project is delivered to time, budget and specification.
  • Building and sustaining an integrated, multi-cultural, collaborative and high-performance team that anticipates and responds to the needs of the organisation and key stakeholders
  • Providing the leadership and strategic direction to the project in line with an innovative ethos, methods of working and best practice.
  • Supporting and promoting a collaborative approach to teamwork within a large, multi-disciplinary, multi stakeholder, culturally diverse project team
  • Implementing strategies for service delivery, capturing learning to promote a culture of continuous improvement and better practice
  • Contributing with fresh ideas on strategy, business planning, and service delivery that will challenge normal practice.
  • Prepare and implement comprehensive business plans to facilitate achievement by planning cost-effective operations and market development activities
  • Ensure company policies and legal guidelines are communicated all the way from the top down in the company and that they are followed at all times
  • Communicate and maintain trust relationships with shareholders, business partners and authorities
  • Oversee the company’s financial performance
  • Delegate responsibilities and supervise the work providing guidance and motivation to drive maximum performance
  • Maintain and develop organisational culture, values and reputation in its markets and with all staff, customers and suppliers

Who we are looking for

  • Proven experience as Operations Director, Director or Associate Director in a Property and Construction Consultancy
  • Project Management or Quantity Surveying specialist (Ideally RICS)
  • Demonstrable experience in developing strategic and business plans
  • Thorough knowledge of market changes and forces that influence the company
  • Strong understanding of corporate finance and measures of performance
  • Familiarity with corporate law and management best practices
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Control of all aspects of the business and for the balance sheet including forecasting and budgeting.
  • Delivery of sales growth across through a broad customer base with experience of creating and delivering on a robust sales strategy.
  • Lead the senior leadership team across finance, sales, health and safety and human resources.
  • Develop and maintain excellent health and safety standards throughout the business, consistent product quality, manufacturing efficiency and best practice.
