The Programme and Project Partners (PPP) at Sellafield has set out its ambitious roadmap for the next five years as the partnership continues to support Sellafield to deliver its purpose of creating a clean and safe environment for future generations.
The PPP model was mobilised in 2019 with the purpose of transforming major infrastructure delivery at the Sellafield nuclear site. The partnership brings together Morgan Sindall Infrastructure, Sellafield Ltd as the client, three respective partners and a wider supply chain to deliver a 20-year pipeline of major infrastructure projects.
Each of the projects will play a vital role in ensuring Sellafield can safely empty ponds and silos, manage the waste and store it safely for decades to come.
"Morgan Sindall Infrastructure is very proud to be part of this strong partnership, and never more so than when we take stock of our progress. We look forward to the exciting future ahead."
As a partnership that was created to push boundaries, inspire change, and make a lasting impact on infrastructure delivery at Sellafield, and beyond, the strategy builds on the work done to date and outlines the steps that will be taken in the next five years to make that a reality, and bring the benefits promised to stakeholders.
"Morgan Sindall Infrastructure is very proud to be part of this strong partnership, and never more so than when we take stock of our progress. We look forward to the exciting future ahead," said Eldon Garnett, managing director of Morgan Sindall Infrastructure's nuclear business.
"On an infrastructure delivery programme of this scale, with multiple in-flight major projects, we are demonstrating our ambition and what can be achieved by working together as one team alongside our supply partners."
Andy Sharples, Projects Director for Sellafield said: “I am excited to see the new strategy for our PPP Partnership being brought to life during year five of the model, benefiting our major capital programme and contributing to Sellafield Ltd's mission of creating a clean and safe environment for future generations.
“Our PPP partners are a vital part of the vision I set out last year to become a top-performing infrastructure delivery organisation. Sellafield Ltd’s plan for the next two years sets us up for delivery success over the next 20 years, focusing on achieving zero harm 24/7; delivering projects on time, within budget and to high-quality standards; developing our skills and capabilities; raising our reputation in the industry; implementing our supply chain strategy; and incorporating sustainability throughout the project lifecycle.
“It's a pleasure to see the partnership becoming stronger as an integral part of our Sellafield.”
Morgan Sindall Infrastructure's role is to lead the civils and construction management of some major projects delivered in the partnership. We manage the construction of these world-class facilities through their entire construction lifecycle, ensuring quality and safety are considered throughout.
The partnership has mobilised a team of approximately 1,400 people, including 288 Morgan Sindall Infrastructure colleagues, delivering a portfolio worth more than £337 million per annum that will enable the decommissioning and remediation of Sellafield’s legacy facilities.
